Fall of Inhibition

I believe that the Internet has been one of the most beneficial, and therefore my favorite, inventions in all of history.  The Internet has been an amazing boon for the transfer of knowledge and the furthering of the ideals of equality.  Through the use of the Internet, individuals can access knowledge that was once impossible for them to discover.  Furthermore, the Internet increases the transparency of governments, something that is useful in decreasing the risks of silent tyranny.  For example, the Internet site WikiLeaks, has been instrumental in releasing previously classified data to the public.  Also, the Internet furthers education by decreasing the amount of time spent searching for information.  For example, a sculptor was once asked to make a sculpture of an elk, however, he could find no pictures of an elk, as this was in the days before the Internet’s existence  The sculptor ended up asking some biologists in the area and finding pictures of a cousin of the elk, and using those pictures he sculpted an inaccurate representation of an elk, for the neck was far too long and the legs too short.  If the Internet had existed at the time, he would have found a picture of an actual elk within seconds and not have had the inaccuracies in his sculpture.  The benefits of the Internet are amazing, and it is because of these great benefits that it is my favorite invention.

MY ENEMY MYSELF

Young reaper

Image via Wikipedia

I tell my kids when they act up, “I am doing you a favor in telling you how not to get into trouble because I was young once and nobody every told me.” So, if given the chance to go back in time, I would find my old young naive dumb self and set him straight. Tell him about the evils and drugs. I would let him know that if you treat women right, they will do the same to you. I would make sure to tell him to appreciate his family and to tell them every day that you love them. And before I left, I would tell him to always believe in rock and roll.

When you have a dog

When you have a dog, you know how important it is to have reliable backpack dog carriers that are easy to use and to get your dog inside. Now, depending on the breed you, you may never use or buy a dog carrier, simply because the dog is too big to ever be worth getting one. But for the smaller breeds, like Chihuahuas and Pomeranians and Yorkshire terriers, to name a few, a dog carrier is a blessing when going to the vet, or even for road trips to go on vacations. This is even truer if your dog, much like mine, is nervous around strange people and places and would rather hide than to walk in a place that she’s not used to with a leash on.

THE BULLY

I was probably 13 the first time the local bully, Chucky, jumped me and my dog. I was bigger than him but he was meaner and he fought dirty. If I could go back and catch him before the first beating he ever gave me, I would be able to tell him that he wasn’t tough. That it was a cowardly thing to lay in wait with your friends and to leap out and attack someone just because you were so sad and angry inside. I would let him see the man I had become and let him know that in life you are not always the bully. That sometimes you can become the victim.
