In high school, I picked up a book called Fight Club, written by the author Chuck Palahniuk. Not only did the author write in a style that I had never experienced before, but the subject matter itself was unique, surprising and challenging. After reading (and re-reading) this book I began to see the world and the rules in the world in a new light. I began to view the values in my life and the values of those around me in a new way and my perception of relationships and modern life was completely challenged. Since reading this book I have been opened to a whole new perspective in life.

Given the choice, I prefer to spend my extra time watching reality shows or intelligent dramas. Reality shows provide easy entertainment and, as awful as it may sound, it can often make my life seem better in comparison. It also gives a glimpse into the lives of the people around me. However, it is also entertaining on a deeper level to watch some of the intelligent dramas on television today. This would include shows like Mad Men or Big Love. I have little time during the day to devote to television, so choosing an option that is truly entertaining is essential.

Given $500 to spend at the mall, I would head directly to the luxury goods store. It is not often in the current economy to have $500 to spend all at once, so I would prefer to spend my money on a single item that I might not otherwise be able to afford and one that I couldn’t buy on any day. Purchasing a bunch of smaller things is something that can be done over a longer period at any time, but one large purchase is less common. I would purchase a well-made pair of shoes or a bag. Something that could be used every day and would improve anything I wore.
